The Vale of the White Horse New Joint Local Plan 2041 designates this area as unsuitable for this type of development but a plan is being prepared.
Coleshill Parish Council has formed a focus group to look at potential impacts of the development
• A devastating effect on valued rural landscape and local heritage and a cumulative “lake effect” with proximity to solar panels at Inglesham.
• Loss of agricultural land.
• Construction traffic through Faringdon, Eaton Hastings, Buscot, and along Snowswick Lane.
This is a narrow road used by local traffic, walkers, cyclists and horse riders. It is unsuitable for HGVs.
• Flooding - local residents fear:
• An increase in flood risk to properties off Snowswick Lane and in Buscot Wick.
• Water backing up along perimeter fencing causing a dam effect and impacting the River Cole and historic bridge.
• The site flooding exponentially: raising solar panels makes them even more intrusive.
• An extended construction period because of waterlogged land.
• Crime - solar farms are increasingly at risk of crime. They are targeted for copper, placing isolated neighbouring properties at risk.
• Environmental impact - damaging local habitats and preventing transitory animals from moving through the area.
Vale Of White Horse New Joint Local Plan 2041 designates this area as unsuitable for this type of development.
